Firewatch was not created in a traditional way. It evolved over years of filming as the story of Le Roy and Rosie Torres—and the fight for veterans exposed to toxic burn pits—continued to unfold.
The team behind Firewatch came together out of a shared conviction: that this story matters, that these veterans and families deserve to be seen and heard, and that storytelling has the power to reach people in ways policy alone cannot.
What began with a small team documenting one family's journey grew into something much larger, with filmmakers, producers, editors, and collaborators each playing a role in capturing and shaping a story that was still unfolding as it was being told.
Firewatch is an Untold Content production. This is a team of documentary filmmakers, journalists, and advocates who believe deeply in the power of honest storytelling. Their combined experience spans news, advocacy campaigns, and long-form documentary work.
